Blake Jones Trout Derby
This year will be the 52nd anniversary of the Blake Jones Trout Derby – one of the state’s largest single day derbies!
Since 1968, the Blake Jones Trout Derby has been a favorite event in the Eastern Sierra.
Every year, the Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau awards nearly $10,000 worth of cash and prizes, including float tubes, rods & reels, gift certificates to local shops and restaurants and much, much more!
Check-in begins at 6am and weigh-in ends at 3pm. Awards ceremony will be at Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds in downtown Bishop. Fishing locations are the same as they have been for over 50 years – Pleasant Valley Reservoir and the Lower Owens River.
The Blake Jones derby is a blind bogey format with categories for adults and kids of all ages. In addition to the blind bogey awards, there will be prizes for early bird registrations, farthest travel, biggest fish, even prizes for those who don’t catch any fish or choose to catch & release.
The Blake Jones Trout Derby is co-sponsored by Inyo County and the City of Bishop, plus many other generous prize donors. For more information, contact the Bishop Chamber at (760) 873-8405.
Registration, weigh-in & awards ceremony will be at the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Bishop. Pleasant Valley Reservoir and Owens River will be stocked with plenty of big fish! $10K+ in prizes and it’s a blind bogey, so everyone has equal chance of taking home fishing equipment, float tubes, gift certificates & cash.
