Where wishes come true and beautiful memories are made.

Location. Location. Location. It’s real and it’s important.

Bishop is in one of the most beautiful parts of our country. Our region also has an incredibly diverse range of settings and seasonal options. If you are planning a special event take a look at Bishop. We have incredible venues where you can create your dream event.

Elope to Independence

Did you know that elopements are big in our part of the world? Here’s what you do. Go to the courthouse in Independence, CA (just 40 miles south of Bishop) for a marriage license. It’s a marvelous, historic building where the staff will help you quickly and courteously. An added benefit is you’ll get the word “Independence” on your certificate. It could prove to be a marriage saver. Then head into the foothills or canyons of the majestic Sierra Nevada for a romantic ceremony and extra special wedding photos.

We are big on outdoors. We have the biggest, most beautiful backyard where secluded locations are easily accessible to set up off-the-grid type events or fully hooked up super parties. There are numerous indoor settings too. Some are located in town, others in bucolic countryside settings, and still more in quaint mountain retreat settings.

It’s also important to have the services and support of great people to make your dream event come true. We are proud of our locally-owned businesses and resident consultants who are skilled and experienced at what they do. They know what’s trending and how to create something unique. As owner-operators they are as invested as you are in making your event as wonderful and memorable as possible.

There are so many great places for wonderful events that we’ve created a special page all about hosting your event in Bishop. We have indoor venues and outdoor settings and places where you can combine the outdoors with the indoors and make your day super special.

Another important aspect of hosting an event in the Eastern Sierra is timing. Timing is everything when planning and executing an event. The Eastern Sierra has the full spectrum of all four seasons. We know our region and its seasons well. Talk to us as your vision starts to take shape and get to know which season is best for which location.

Outdoor Wedding

Here are just a few types of events that you could create and host in the Eastern Sierra that will have a lasting impression on you, your family, and your guests.

  • Weddings
  • Team-building
  • Stewardship
  • Sporting meets
  • Spiritual retreats
  • Product launches
  • Photography
  • Nature retreats
  • Family reunions
  • Exhibitions
  • Concerts
  • Board meetings
  • Art and crafts

Talk to us. Learn about your public lands and our local community and develop an event that meets the needs of your guests — who are our guests too. Contact us. Call, email, peruse our website, or come in to the Bishop Visitor Center at 690 N. Main St. in Bishop. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff can give you lots of info, brochures, maps, contacts, and directions on where to go and who to talk to.

Whether you’re planning a personal, professional, or commercial event there are innumerable ways to develop your event to achieve your dream.

Wow beautiful picture. Love the High Sierras ❤❤❤

Gorgeous 😍 spent 4th of July weekend there and I have to say I am in love with Bishop. I can't wait to go back and explore more 😃

California From Palm Springs to Lee Vining and beyond, east of the Sierra Nevada, has perhaps the most stunning visual landscapes in the whole U.S. I am sorry I can never go back there. The people there ruined the experience for me. I was born there, and people from New York, Chicago, Boston, Florida, Arkansas, etc, were all telling me how it was going to be. Between them, the asskicking rednecks, and the thieving hippies, we had to go. Haven't been back except to visit and for funerals since. Going on 51 years.

Do you love going into the backcountry? Here is a great video by Inyo Search and Rescue (SAR) reminding folks to please be smart about it.

From InyoSAR:
"With the start of what is sure to be a busy summer after months of Coronavirus lockdown, the STOP campaign was created to partner with visitors by supporting them to be prepared for their time in the mountains of Inyo County. The campaign's letters, STOP, stand for four key principles that, in the team's experience, will help people get back down the mountain safely.
The principles are:

S - Stay Together
T - Turn Around
O - Ownership
P - Prepare and Train

Although backcountry helicopter rescues capture headlines, in reality, helicopter rescues are extremely limited and risky. Inyo County Search and Rescue works with several excellent and capable helicopter agencies, but has no control of availability or other limiting factors such as high winds, heat, altitude, or
darkness.

Most people don’t know that many who call for rescues or use their emergency beacons to call SOS
actually aren’t in a life-threatening situation. Rather, many of these callers are not prepared for their mountain objective and are looking for an easy way out of an unexpected, but non-emergency predicament."

Let's do our part to stay safe!!
