The first Flash Foxy Climbing Festival

was a three day event that brought together and celebrated the growing community of women climbers. The festival not only reached veteran female climbers but also provided a safe space for beginner climbers to learn more about all that climbing has to offer women. Participants of all climbing experience levels were welcomed – including no experience at all. The festival was a great opportunity to try out rockclimbing in a safe and supportive environment.

For three sun-filled days in February, climbers gathered to check out gear, techniques, yoga, demonstrations, and oh yes, to climb! Evening events included dinners, slideshows, films, and of course, a party or two. Local guides offered workshops, local yoga studios led morning yoga sessions, and local businesses hosted evening events. A raffle benefited advocacy partners and offered great prizes, and a panel discussion hosted a lively conversation about women in climbing.

We feel like there’s no better way to sum up the Flash Foxy Women’s Climbing Festival that from the words of the climbers themselves, so please check out some of the lively and fascinating blog posts linked below.

We hope this is only the first time Flash Foxy will host this great event in the Bishop area, and we thank the awesome team of organizers for teaching the participants how to care for the land, respect the sport of climbing and contributing to local organizations that make it their mission to care for the world-class climbing areas in the eastern Sierra.

If you want to learn to climb, please contact one of our local guide services in town – from mountaineering to bouldering there is something for everyone. Sierra Mountain Guides, Sierra Mountain Center and Sierra Mountaineering are three based out of Bishop to call.
