Campgrounds

Cold, clear creeks dancing down mountain canyons and gem-like alpine lakes are home to fighting Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Golden trout. Cast a fly or lure, bait a hook and get ready for some of the finest fishing in the west. The Bishop area is renowned for its trout fishery. Whether it’s the challenge of the catch-and-release wild trout section of the Owens River or casting your line into a sparkling lake, the chance of catching a big one is always there.

Camping in the Bishop area brings back childhood memories of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, sleeping under the starlit sky and breathing the cool, fresh, pine scented air. You can relive those times and create even more memories for yourself and your children and grandchildren in one of the many campgrounds the Bishop Area has to offer. Most campgrounds in the Inyo National Forest are first come-first served, but a few such as group campgrounds for Boy Scouts and church groups are available on a reserve basis.
